If it has not become clear, we are a little Japanese-car-crazy here. There are rarely models that we anticipate more than the newest Nissans, Datsuns, Toyotas, Hondas, etc. So when we heard that Hot Wheels was tackling an emerging classic, the CR-X, we could not have been more excited.
We finally have it, and I have to say I am more than pleased. Is it stock? No. Is it cool? Uh-huh. And it gets a little cooler to know that it was designed by Mattel's resident Honda expert, Ryu Asada, who works mainly over at Matchbox but who is also responsible for the fantastic Hot Wheels custom Honda S2000, which got the Super Treasure Hunt treatment this year.
If you want to get an idea of Ryu's inspiration behind this mid-engine Honda, just hop over to the Japanese Nostalgic Car blog for an idea. It does give you a better sense of what you are looking at.
